Delusional Dog Owners

Dog Owners are delusional.  Are there exceptions?  Maybe, but read on to discover why dog owners must face reality.

Dog owners do not see their pets for what they are.  Why is it I never know about other people who have pets, but I know who is a dog owner when I go home and hear barking.  I go grocery shopping and someone has to bring in their pet.  I don't think I have seen a real service dog in years.  I want to get on the elevator and I see someone with a dog, I let them get on and wait for the next lift.

When I go to the park, too many dog owners bypass the dog station full of bags and an empty can to let their pooches relieve  themselves into the blooming wildflowers.  Then, I walk by that same park on a hot day, the air smells like feces instead of flora.

Then there are the grocery stores wasting aisle-space on pet garbage.  And not for fish, cats or gerbils.  For DOGS.  With prices as high as they are, there should be a 100% drop on using precious resources to feed and house dogs.

Then, there are the social media posts and inane news broadcasts about dogs.  People find the disgusting and intrusive behavior of dogs endearing, but won't tolerate the same behavior from a person.  How many reports of maulings and deaths at the fangs of fighting breeds (yes, your pibbles was made for violence) do we have to hear before we sterilize and ban these creatures?

Then, there is the allergens.  Dogs are not clean animals.  You may not smell your pooch but we can.  I refuse to shake hands or even eat out because I don't know who has a dog at home or worse, pet at dog before preparing food.  How can you let something that will eat anything lick your face?  Don't you know that's how parasites are transmitted?

My favorite sign is a no dogs/ no pets sign.  I have seen more of them popping up lately and when I do, that place gets my business.  I pass several similar businesses in order to do so.  But what about those who don't have reliable transportation?  They should be able to walk or ride wherever they need to go to take care of their personal business.  We all deserve a dog-free society. A 100%, no exceptions ban on dogs.

Dog owners need to face reality.  Your pet costs more than money.  They will never pay it back.  They don't, won't and can't love you.  They do what they must to stay fed and you interpret that as unconditional love.  Only YOU can love yourself.  And right now, you keeping that dog is proof that you don't.  Why would you allow a creature that could kill you to take away your resources, strain and even destroy relationships, and even make you sick?  Please wake up and see these creatures for what they are.  Until then, the rest of us will advocate for a dog-free society.
